Valmeinier/Valloire & Val Cenis
Most of the well-known resorts are over populated and fresh snow is tracked out within hours of falling. The Maurienne Valley (just the other side of Val Thorens) is probably the least known major off-piste ski area and you can ski fresh tracks for several days.
Many of the mountain guides from the best French resorts, including Val d'Isère, rate this area as the place to ski off-piste, and we are certainly thrilled by our experiences of skiing the powder here right up to the end of April.
The expertise of a mountain guide is essential and with your guide you can head off for a terrific adventure into the untracked slopes of Valmeinier and the vast mountain ranges around Val Cenis towards Val d'Isère or Italy. Val Cenis also offers several fantastic big off piste descents including the top of Val Thorens down to the valley floor near Aussois.
